This research focused on analyzing the trend of domestic afterschool physical activities in primary and
secondary school, but also explored tasks to develop afterschool physical activities in the future. The
study analyzed 88 researches focused on ‘afterschool physical activities’ which published in domestic
major journals from 2006 to 2016 and divided into three categories to review: Years of publication,
journals from associations, and topics of research. The results of the study were as followed: First, many
of journals were published around 2012 and most of them were written from four associations in total
of 26 associations. Second, 57 journals (64.7%) were focused on the effectiveness of afterschool physical
activities when 21 journals (23.8%), the exploring ways of development, were written. Seven journals (8%)
focused on exploring involvement and hindrance factors when three journals (3.4%) were about the
development of educational system and analysis tool in afterschool physical activities. This study showed
that the research which focused on the factors of involvement and hindrance, analysis tool, and the
development of curriculum needs to be conducted constantly and it has to have more interest in
afterschool physical activities for the development.
