The study started from the two significant problems. Firstly, graduates' entrance to higher
education was not taken into account in the employment rate. Second, there was no distinction in
analyzing college enrollment rate among graduate school entrance, 4-year college entrance and
college re-entrance. In this study, the data on the employment rate of graduates in higher
education from 2012 to 2015 provided by EDSS(EduData Service System) was analyzed to
reinterpret graduates' employment rate and college enrollment rate. For this analysis, the network
structure of entering field of education and labor was identified that indicates the flow of first job
searching and entering school of graduates. The findings are as follows. First, it was confirmed
that 're-entry into university' or 're-entry into college' of graduates have a similar network
structure, which means horizontal career development exists. Second, there were no particular
departments which are structurally favorable to employment in Korean society. Third, a region
where a school resides in had not have the same effect on student career development every year.
Fourth, universities had various network structures that were difficult to indicate with single
employment rate. Fifth, there were certain departments in which horizontal career development
has been continuously taking place. However, those were not merely a department with a low
employment rate. And this study presented the suggestions to implications and future research
directions.
