The purpose of this study is to identify a city image that can represent Busan city by using decision -
making methodology. Furthermore, this study also provides the weight of each image. Especially, this study
applies fuzzy decision making analysis that reflects ambiguity and uncertainty in decision-making process. According to the results of the analysis, "Active economic city" was selected as the most representative
image of Busan City to both experts of Busan and experts of non-Busan. However, while experts of Busan
selected "Beautiful Environment City" and "Safe and Comfortable City", experts of non-Busan selected 'City
with past and present' and 'comfortable city with leisure activities' as the representative image of Busan
city. Considering the current population and industrial characteristics of Busan, it is not appropriate to set
the image of Busan as 'a city where young cultures bloom', 'global leading cities', 'cities of creativity and
opportunity'. This result expects to be used as an important quantative information for urban planning
policies.
