The major purpose of this study is to find out affecting factors related to the quality of life of the severely physically disabled persons. and to find out which factors are different from those of the mild cases.
The dependent variable used for the analysis was the subjectively perceived quality of life that the severely physically disabled persons personally feel and appraise. The independent variables were personal factors(age, personal income, income of family, school career, length of the disability, daily living skill, perception of the disabilities), environmental factors(social support, policies and programs related to the welfare of disabled people, access and mobility, leisure and cultural facilities, social recognition and discrimination) and the degree of social integration factor. A survey research method was adopted to accomplish this study.
In order to analyze compiled information, multiple regressions by SPSS for Windows 11.0 were applied.
The main results of the study are as follows. Age, the income of family, perception of the disabilities, social support, access and mobility were factors to the quality of life of the severely physically disabled persons. Age, the income of family, perception of the disabilities, social support, access and mobility, the degree of social integration were factors to the quality of life of the mild cases. The degree of social integration was not affecting factor to the quality of life of the severe cases, while it was affecting factor to the quality of the mild cases.
