This study was designed to develop and apply Social Skills Training Program for visually handicapped students. The experimental group included 16 high school students in Daejeon School for the Blind. In order to estimate the effects of the program a sociality scale was used through pretest and post test. It was social skills rating system for visually handicapped students and researcher translated and modified Social Skills Rating System(Frank M. Gresham and Stephen N. Elliot) appropriately.
Based on the review of the previous researches and data of the students\' need which the researcher investigated, the program was made. It includes the introducing oneself, clarifying of one\'s own strengths, the management of first impression, non-verbal communication rehearsal, conversational-skills training, empathy training, self-presentation, requesting, refusing, praising and job-interview skills-training.
The result of pretest was 449 in total score and 28\'0625 in average score. The result of post test was 518 in total score and 32\'375 in average score. The students\' response through the questionnaire of this study included profit, help, goodwill, effect, self esteem, interesting, confidence, discovery of strength in the fields of the program.
The Social Skills Training Program developed by the researcher was proved to be effective for the improvement of visually handicapped students\' sociability. Therefore, it was suggested that the program be given to the students every year in order to help their adjustment.
