본 연구는 시각장애 학생의 불안정도를 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구 대상은 시각장애 학교 중․고등부 학생 170명이었고, 대상 아동의 불안정도를 측정하기 위하여 Hardy(1966)가 개발한 시각장애인의 불안 검사(Anxiety Scale for the Blind)를 번안하여 재구성하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 시각장애 학생의 불안정도를 여러 변인을 통해 살펴본 결과, 시력정도별, 실명시기별, 일반학교 교육 경험 유․무별, 학년별, 생활공간별에는 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 성별에서는 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 시각장애 학생의 변인에 따른 불안정도의 하위영역별 차이를 살펴본 결과, 대부분 개인 성향성 보다는 주변 환경과의 관계, 대인관계, 정안인과의 관계에서 의미 있는 차이를 나타냈다.
This study was designed to examine, in consideration of relevant variables, the anxiety levels of students with visual impairments in middle and high school courses. Specifically, the purpose of this study intended to determine (1) whether their anxiety levels were different with their variables: sex, visual acuity, onset of blindness, experience of taking education in regular school, grade and living environment, and (2) whether the subareas of their anxiety levels varied with those variables. The participants in this study were 170 students with visual impairments, who were attending the middle and high school courses in 11 schools for the blind and visual impairments across the nation. Among them, 97 students were males and 73 were females. Regarding the level of visual acuity, 71 were totally blind and 99 were low vision students. For the onset of blindness, 121 students were congenitally visually impaired, and 49 were adventitious blind. Concerning the educational experiences in regular schools, 93 had such experiences, and 77 were devoid of them. With school year, 14 were first graders in middle schools, and 20 were second graders, and 19 were third graders. 40 were first graders in high schools, and 69 were second graders, and 8 were third graders. With living environment, 100 students were included in residential settings while 70 were with their families. The instrument used in this study was Hardy\'s Anxiety Scale for the Blind, which consisted of 78 items and dealt with four subareas: personal orientation, interpersonal relationship, relationship with environment and relationship with people who had normal vision. For data processing, SPSS program was employed, and t-test and F-test were utilized. The findings of this study is as follows: First, regarding the impacts of the variables on anxiety levels, the female students are significantly more anxious than the males, and the other variables made no differences. Second, concerning the influences of the variables on the subareas of anxiety levels, the female students are significantly more anxious than the males in terms of personal orientation and relationship with environment and people had normal vision. With visual acuity, the totally blind students experienced significantly higher level of anxiety than the students with low vision in terms of relationship with environment and people had normal vision. And those who had no experiences to take regular school education were more anxious than the others with those experiences in terms of personal orientation and relationship with environment.
