The main purpose of this study was focused on the present status of recreation and leisure activities of the school for the blind, So investigated the situation and degree of satisfaction of the visually impaired student\'s recreation and leisure activities. The instrument of study was free-responding type questionnaire for the teachers and structured questionnaire for students. The conclusions based on the result of this study are as follows;
First, in the study of operating status of recreation and leisure activities, all of 12 schools for the blind are practicing the recreation and leisure program and 141 students(49.3%) among 286 students are participating and the main program which the students are taking part in was music-related part. The student who are not participating said that the reason why they do not participate was there was any programs they want,
therefore in making the recreation and leisure program, it should reflect the more opinions of students. In composing the instructors, the proportion between in school teachers and outside instructors is nearly same and the most program was free of charge.
Second, concerning the need and degree of satisfaction of the visually impaired student, they would like to participate the new and various recreation and leisure and they wanted to have relevant informations and techniques regarding the recreation and leisure, however, they showed the low satisfaction about the recreation and leisure activities. Accordingly, for the visually impaired student, the various programs and suitable situations where the visually impaired student can participate should be given to them.
