There are four types of study material for the visually impaired students. They are magnified silent letter, braille, recorded voice, and computer file. The most desired support for the visually impaired students to study in the full inclusive education environment is to provide various type of study materials. The Voiceye developed by AD I&C co. in 2004 can fulfill the needs. The Voiceye can produce a bar code symbol contained lots of information, so that a new type of study material can be produced. As the study material produced by the Voiceye consists of silent letters and bar code symbols as well, both the visually impaired students and the normal students can study together with the same study material.
The purpose of this study is to propose a new scheme of the study material production using Voiceye for the visually impaired students in the full inclusive education environment. The approach of this study consists of four steps. Firstly, the four type of study materials for the visually impaired are compared with the viewpoints of the three requisites; accessibility, reading efficiency, convenience. As a result of it, the requisites of the study material for the visually impaired students are derived. Secondly, the requisite fulfillment of the study material using the Voiceye is deduced. Thirdly, the case of the study material production using the Voiceye is investigated. Finally, the new scheme of the study material production using the Voiceye and the upgrade scheme of the Voiceye are proposed on the basis of the above study results.
