During the past 40 years, many ETAs(electronic travel aids) are developed and introduced to assist the walking of the blind. But it is hard to find the blind person who use the ETA. It because it has some defects as well as the performance problem. In this paper, the features of the introduced ETA were investigated and the demands of the blind for the ETA\'s function were analyzed. After that, we present the requirements of the ETA and propose a new type of wearable walking assistive device. The proposed type consists of an obstacle detection module, wireless signal transfer module and acoustic interface module. All of the components of the device are located in the garment to hide the device for relieving the blind\'s psychological burden. The bone conduction stimulator which located at the front of the ear leaving the ear-canal open is imported to use as acoustic signal transferring method and the user can hear both the alarm signal and the environmental sound which is the main cue to walking for the blind. The prototype of the proposed device was implemented and the obstacle detecting experiment were carried out. The results showed the good performance of the device and the proposed device is expected to actually use to the blind.
