The purpose of this paper is to explain the relation of language and oral literature from a standpoint of communities. This paper is constructed with four main chapters. In the chapter two, we confirmed the concept of community and presented its types. We described also the characteristic of internet communities that come recently into being. In the chapter three, we explained that language strengthens intimacy among the members of community and establishes their identity. Language reflects the culture of community and has the function of media to reappear it. We looked into the relation of language and oral literature carefully in the chapter four. Oral literature works like the song of drama by chang reciter, folk song, proverb and masque drama were well revealing distinctive linguistic characteristics of community in which they were produced. In the chapter five, we clarified the fact the oral literature with much nonstandard communication language are produced actively in internet communities and have been transmitted widely. As the result of discussion, we ascertained the linguistic feature of oral literature is common from Joseon Dynasty period to modern stage. At now the peoples of two classes who use ‘standard language’ and ‘nonstandard language’ are maintaining the confrontational relation as the upper classes and the lower classes had used ‘noble variety’ and ‘vulgar variety’ each other differently at Joseon Dynasty. The oral literature is composed with usual lively language such as ‘vulgar and nonstandard language’ more than ‘noble and standard language’.
