한국 구비서사시 중 서사무가에는 민속문화를 구성하는 여러 민속적 사실(또는 民俗素)이 수용되어 있다. 이러한 민속적 사실은 실제의 민속문화에서 얘기되는 것과는 그 층위를 달리한다. 서사무가 속에서 민속적 사실은 기원의 제시와 밀접하게 관련되어 진술되고 있기 때문이다. 그러면서도 이들 민속적 사실은 작품 전체의 내용 전개에 하등 지장을 주지 않는다. 삭제하더라도 내용 전개에 아무런 지장을 주지 않기 때문이다. 그럼에도 이들 민속적 사실이 수용된 이유는 무엇인가? 그것은 서사무가 자체가 기원을 이야기하려는 경향이 강하기에 세부적인 내용에 있어서도 이러한 경향을 따르게 되었다는 점, <성주풀이>에서 잘 드러나듯 유사 신앙에 대한 견제의 기능도 작용하고 있다는 점 등의 이유를 들 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 서사무가에서의 이러한 민속적 사실은 칼리그람적 상상력을 지향함으로 하여, 우리의 민속문화적 의식과 행위를 규제하는 동시에 반성케 하는 동인이 된다는 점에서 중요하다. 서사무가가 민속법의 기능을 갖게 되기 때문이다. 그 점에서 서사무가는 신의 본풀이일 뿐만 아니라, 민속법전이기도 하다.
Seosa-muga Korean oral epics attains various folk facts(or folk-components) comprising folk culture. In fact, this folk fact has a different layer from that of folk culture in reality. Because in Seosa-muga, it is told that folk facts are closely related to presentation of origin. And then, these folk facts don\'t obstruct content development of the whole story at all. Because it doesn\'t affect on the content development at all even when deleted. Nevertheless, what is the reason that these folk facts are accepted at any rate? That is because Seosa-muga itself tends to show about the origin, content in detail also tends to follow this trend, and as shown well in \"Seongju-puri,\" it has a function of containing other pseudo faith. That way, it proceeded to the so-called folk law to restrain our consciousness and behavior by providing divine grounds for folk culture. In that sense, Seosa-muga is a folk body of law with folk facts appearing in a divine form as well as god\'s Bonpuri.
