본 연구의 목적은 매스미디어의 하나인 신문 기사에 에너지와 기후변화의 내용이 얼마 나 많이 다루어지고 있는지를 분석하고, 그 내용을 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위하여 2011년 3월 1일부터 8월 31일까지 6개월 동안 신문에 실린 과학기사를 추출하여 이 중에서 에너지와 관련 된 내용과 기후변화에 관련된 내용을 별도로 추출하여 이를 분석하였다. 주요 연구 결과는 다음 과 같다. 첫째, 에너지에 대한 기사는 210개이고, 기후변화에 대한 기사는 173개였다. 둘째, 유 형별로 분석하였을 때, 에너지에 대한 신문기사는 설명형이 가장 많았고, 기후변화에 대한 신문 기사는 단순보도형이 가장 많았다. 셋째, 내용별로 분석하였을 때, 에너지에 대한 신문기사는 기술/공학 영역이 가장 많았고, 기후변화에 대한 신문기사는 지구과학 영역이 가장 많았다.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the contents of energy and climate in a newspaper. For this purpose, we collected the science articles related to energy and climate change which have been presented for 6 months in the newspaper. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the number of scientific articles related to energy is 210, and the number of scientific articles related to climate change is 173. Second, the main type of scientific articles related to energy is 'explanation', and the main type of scientific articles related to is 'simple report'. Third, the main contexts of scientific articles related to energy are 'technology/engineering', and the main contexts of scientific articles related to climate change are 'earth science'.
