This study was to explore application of Food Art Therapy(FAT) in early childhood education
and to propose application methods of the FAT. The study was done by reviewing of related
literature, visiting kindergarten and child-care center which apply FAT, and interviewing teachers
who were experienced in the FAT.
The application methods of FAT in early childhood education were as follows:
First, it can be used four principles, child-centered, play-centered, individuation, integrative
approach for application of FAT in Early Childhood Education. FAT lesson plan can be applied for
「3 to 5 year-old Nuri curriculum by age」. Second, FAT program can be applied for one part of
the curriculum, extra-curricular activities and after-school activities in early childhood education
institution and etc. It is desirable to plan individual or small group activities. Third, the objects of
KIDS FAT program is development of whole child. Fourth, KIDS FAT program can be tried as
nutrition and health education, prevention and healing of behavior problem, personality education.
Five, it is needed teacher in-service education and professional education for applying the FAT in
the real situation.
