Understanding the changes in society toward globalization, teacher education institutions try to strengthen the global competencies for preservie teachers. As a part of efforts to reflect the global movement, teacher education institutions have been implemented field experiences overseas programs. The study aimed to analyze the contents and characteristics of the programs focusing on the aspects of opportunities, challenges, and risks of globalization. As a result, the seven types of the field experience were presented: practicum overseas, practicum in Korean school overseas, observation of practice and experiences of major area overseas, teaching internship overseas, practicum and volunteer in developing country, exchange program, and language practice abroad. It also suggested that the field experience overseas would be critical for preservice teacher to prepare for the global competencies, therefore, the teacher education institutions need to be considered the programs and policies to develop the global competencies for preservice teachers.
