본 연구는 책날개 독서지도 연수가 초등학교 교사의 성별에 따라 ‘독서지도 효능감’, ‘독자 로서의 자기인식’, ‘교실 내 독서지도 활동’에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 알아보는 데 그 목적 이 있다. 이를 위하여 남교사와 여교사 각 집단에서 연수 참여 여부에 따라 종속변인인 독서 지도 효능감, 독자로서의 자기인식, 교실 내 독서지도 활동에 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 연수에 참여한 경험이 없는 교사 175명(남 23명, 여 152명)과 연수에 참여한 경 험이 있는 교사 95명(남 11명, 여 84명)이었다. 연구 결과, 여교사의 경우 독서지도 효능감과 교실 내 독서지도 활동에 긍정적인 영향을 준 것으로 나타났으며, 남교사의 경우에는 세 가지 종속변인에 별다른 차이가 없었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 남교사의 특성을 반영한 독서지도 연수 프로그램의 설계 및 적용의 필요성 등이 논의되었다.
The present article aims to identify the effects of an in-service primary teacher training program for reading education on efficacy of reading instruction, self-perception as readers and classroom reading instruction activities depending on teacher's gender. Particular attention is payed on whether each of the gender groups which participated in the training program make differences in dependent variables such as reading efficacy, self-awareness as readers and classroom reading instruction activities. The teachers involved in the research are 175(male 23, female 152) with no in-service training experience for reading education and 95(male 11, female 84) with such experience . The result demonstrates that the program makes a positive influence on efficacy of reading instruction and classroom reading instruction activities of female teachers, however, it does not have any significant impact on those three dependent variables of male teachers. An important implication from the result is discussed that in-service teacher training for reading education which reflects the characteristics of male primary teachers should be designed.
