The purpose of this study was to explore the challenges and the possibilities of improving quality of teaching in one university. For this, degree of satisfaction on teacher evaluation instrument, teaching methods used by the professors, obstacles and necessary conditions for teaching improvment were investigated. 220 professors were surveyed. As a result, followings were found: Firstly, an effort of the university is not satisfactory. Secondly, teaching evaluation instrument is considered to be moderate. On the other hand, professors were still direct instruction oriented. And they were confronted with many challenges such as individual differences, under achievement etc. Nevertheless, they attributed them to extraneous conditions such as lack of school support and poor environment rather than their own lack of educational knowledge or effort. Data on various questions implies that the effort to improve college teaching should be comprehensive to be effective.
