The purpose of this study is to define the degree of aquisition and development of motor skill by applied cooperative learning to elementary phyical education. the subjects are 290 chileren who are 6th graders at elemantary school in K city and they are divided into two group in shich one is cooperative learning group(boys: 48, girls:48) and the other is general learning group(boys:96 girls:98). the task is long jump and the dependent cariables are the interest in the physical education class and the intrinsic motivation of it and the records of long jump.
The results are as follows:
1. The cooperative learning gruop shows higher interest and intinsic motivation of the physical education class than the general learning group does. This menas that coomperative learning is proved to be more dffective teaching method for the development and acquistion of motor skill in the elementary physical education class.
2. There are no differences between cooperative learning group and general learning group in 100m run and pre-records of long jump, but coomperative learning group shows superior records after class than general learning group does. We can suggest that cooperative learning is more effective teaching method than general learning is in the elementary phywical calss.
3. As a result, above all, to activate the cooperative learning of physical education classes in the elementary school, we whould make effective plans and concrete teaching sheets so that the cooperative learning method can be applied to the class, depending on diffeerent events.
Second, more various cooperative learning methods for elementary physical education classess should be developed according to differnt events.
