The purpose of this study was to analyse the realities of reconstruction and operation of physical education curriculum in elementary school. It is expected that this study will contribute to optimize the content of curriculum in future.
For accompliching abject. the 445 subjuects were selected by the random sampling menthod from elementary school teachers in Taegu.
The survey questionnaires were used to collect data.
Data was collected from the survey questionnaires consisted of 17 items. The coefficient of reliability for questionnaires was examined by a=.65. The statistical methods for analyzind data utilized the X2 test.
The results of this study can be summarized as follows:
1)The realities of curriculum peration
The results showed the highest percentage in each items. 58.7% of subjects answered that curriculum content quantity is \' much\'. 62.7% of them operated below 805 of curriculum content. and 56.5% of them worked below 80% in lessen time. 58.6% of respondents have reconstructed curriculum.
2) the type of curriculum reconstruction
37.6% of teachers operate a curriculum reconstructing elastically with a part of curriculum contents. 70% among the non-reconstructors replied that they intend to reconstruct a curriculum.
3) The direction of curriculum reconstruction and operation in future 34.9% of subjects would like to perate a curriculum reconstructing elastically with a part of curriculum contents in future. They responded that the main group must be teachers(34.7%) and students(31.6%). ans the need of students(35.7%) and the control through a subject conference(26.1%) must be considered in the process of curriculum reconstruction.
On the base of those results, the points to be considered for reconstruction and peration of curriculum can be suggested as follows:
1) For the normalication of physical education . it should be required the optimization of curriculum content, the reflection of teachers, and the radical superviision of administrations.
2)Because teachers will reconstruct curriculum little by little, administratirmust give a guideline for reconstruction of physical education curriculum on the base of reality in field.
