The purpose of the current study was to investigate the relationship between body mass index(BMI), bone density(BD), perfect
orientation and eating disorder among high school dance-major students. One hundred thirty six female high school students
(ballet, 34.6%; Korean Traditional dance, 28.6%; modern dance 36.8%) were recruited in the current study. BMI was calculated
with height and weight assessed, BD was assessed with ultrasonography, and perfect orientation and eating disorder was assessed
with questionnaire. Ballet dancer had lower value of BMI as compared to Korean traditional dancer and modern dancer. However,
there was no significant difference in perfect orientation and eating disorder across dance majors. Among ballet students, there
was significant correlation between body weight anxiety and BD, among Korean traditional dance students, anxiety and BMI, and
among modern dance students, self-developement. In addition BMI was accounted for types of dance major, and BD was
accounted for body weight anxiety.
