The purpose of this study was to explore the qualifications and responsibilities of professional art
therapists as on-site supervisor in clinical setting of art therapy. It was to educate and train them as
on-site supervisor, who can provide practical supervision for the art therapy intern students. It was
first reviewed the three basic criteria, relational ability, therapeutic intervention ability, and artistic
ability for the evaluation of art therapy supervision by reviewing the importance and expertise of it.
Then the core evaluation criteria, general internship ability, art therapy internship ability, and the
ability of utilizing supervision, for the art therapy intern students was proposed for the on-site
supervisor to embrace the professionalism between the graduate curriculum and clinical practicum
on-site by examining the frame of reference which has to be understood and presented during the
supervision. It was to provide continuing education for the on-site supervisor with the tools to assess
the art therapy intern students, which include the standards and essential contents of supervision to
reflect their professional attitude and leadership.
