The purpose of this study was to explore the supervision in art therapy, which is required to
be a professional art therapist in the clinical field. The similarities and differences of art
therapy supervision were discussed, comparing to the general concept of clinical supervision.
The attention was given to the contents area and the items for the evaluation in art therapy
supervision. After completing the master’s coursework, many novice art therapists struggles to
grow as a professional art therapist and to become a supervisor. For them, the theories and
clinical experiences need to be integrated and expanded in art therapy supervision. Especially,
it is very important to be trained clinically with the support of the on-site supervisor in art
therapy. The on-site art therapy supervision would support the quality of art therapy, not only
to raise professional art therapists but also to train them as qualified art therapy supervisor,
who work in the clinical field of art therapy in Korea.
