This study aims to identify the relationships among the empowering leadership, individual self efficacy,
and innovative behavior. Our study data were collected from 243 employees in a general merchandise
fashion-brand company. Our empirical results suggest that (1) empowering leadership is positively
associated with innovative behavior. (2) In addition, empowering leadership is positively related to self
efficacy. (3) Finally, self efficacy tends to strengthen the relationship between empowering leadership and
innovative behavior. The results provide that organizations emphasize to boost employee innovative
behavior and self-efficacy through leaders' empowering leadership. Our study suggests that organizations
must train leaders to develop skills of autonomy, participative decision making, and empowerment
coaching. We discuss implications for educational fields and provide future research directions.
