This study analyzes the relationship between cognition of aging signs and attitudes toward the elderly by nurses who care the elderly patients in geriatric hospitals. The research participants is 162 nurses working at geriatric hospitals in Gyeonggi-Do. The collected data were applied to such statistical analyses as the frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA by using SPSS/Win 14.0 program.
The analysis of results is following: First, the higher nurses\' physical cognition of aging signs in geriatric hospitals are, the more positive attitudes toward the elderly are. Second, the higher nurses\' psychological cognition of aging signs in geriatric hospitals are, the more positive attitudes toward the elderly are. Third, the higher nurses\' age in geriatric hospitals is, the more positive cognition of aging signs is. Fourth, the higher difference of nurses\' scholarly attainment level in geriatric hospitals is, the more positive cognition of aging signs is. Fifth, the higher nurses\' position in geriatric hospitals is, the more positive cognition of aging signs is. Sixth, when nurses in geriatric hospitals did voluntary service for the elderly, cognition of aging signs is the more positive. Seventh, when nurses in geriatric hospitals lived with the elderly, attitudes toward the elderly is the more positive.
