This paper outlines an interdisciplinary approach to the semiotic study about theme -parks(TP), mainly focuesd on Jeju Self-Governing Province. It deals with the sign character of various types of TP, its field, tenor and modes of construction, move-lines and narrative paths as well as the semiotic stratification for TP- assessment. The descriptive apparatus
includes the hierarchy of semantic features, the syntactic model applied to the space structures, their brand-dependent collocations, finally, the pragmatics of semiotic maxims in the sense of Grice. This syncretisms in the TP of all societies and cities, which are becoming increasingly obvious in the age of globalization, are to be systematically described and explained by the equally syncretistic framework of brand studies which reformulates
the relevant contributions of all sciences and connects them into an unified approach. In the next following article, with these results, we will try to develop a so-called TPAI(Thema-Park Assessment Index)
