This study was intended to analyze the strength and weakness of the usage of FM system and FM system management through in-depth interviews and questionnaires to teachers, students and parents through the onsite examination of current status of the usage of FM
system in Incheon Seongdong School For the Deaf. The survey with a questionnaire was conducted to 15 teachers, who were using FM system. In addition, an in-depth interview was executed to teachers in charge of classes. The results of this study were as follows:First,
all the teachers for kindergarten class and elementary class were using FM system and considered the system essential for students. Second, the merits of FM system seemed to surpass the problems occurring in its usage. Third, parents and students’ recognition about
FM system was quite positive. Fourth, the type and quality of service from FM system company need to be improved. In summary, there were various needs for professional and effective management of FM systems in special schools for students with hearing impairments. Moreover, it may be necessary to conduct further studies for a new role-model of treatment education teachers in the special school for students with hearing impairments.
