Hearing thresholds and SATs were analyzed in children wearing hearing aids and FM systems (2 males, 1 female). Four levels of measurements were made for evaluation of hearing thresholds: unaided, aided, aided with 2 m of distance, and FM only conditions.
First, most hearing thresholds were reduced up to 5-16 dB under half distance condition from 2 m to 1 m. Second, 0.1 m distance resulted in overall 5-20 dB reduction in thresholds under FM-hearing aid condition. Third, SAT also showed 10-15 dB reduction in thresholds for the shift of distance from 2 m to 0.1 m.
