본 연구는 장애대학생이 다른 장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감을 분석하여, 장애인들 간에 존재하는 수용의 정도를 파악한 후 상호간의 긍정적인 태도나 인식을 가질 수 있는 방안을 탐색하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 서울과 부산 및 경남지역 대학교에 재학 중인 164명의 장애대학생을 대상으로 사회적 거리감의 지각정도를 살펴보았다. 연구의 결과를 살펴보면 먼저, 장애대학생의 장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감은 정신장애, 자폐성장애와 지적장애의 순으로 사회적 거리감을 크게 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 사회적 거리감을 신체적, 대인적 거리감으로 구분하여 살펴볼 때, 신체적 거리감은 정신장애, 지적장애, 자폐성장애순으로, 대인적 거리감은 정신장애, 자폐성장애, 지적장애 등의 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 장애대학생의 장애인에 대한 사회적 거리감은 성별, 장애유형, 장애인 친구 유무에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 각 장애영역에 대한 장애대학생의 배경변인에 따른 사회적 거리감의 차이를 살펴보면 지체장애와 시각장애, 건강장애에 대한 사회적 거리감은 성별과 장애정도, 장애인 친구 유무에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였고, 뇌성마비와, 청각장애의 경우에는 성별, 장애인 친구 유무에서, 언어장애는 장애정도에서, 지적장애와 정신장애, 자폐성장애는 장애인친구유무에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 이러한 결과를 통하여 장애대학생들의 사회적 적응을 위해 비장애인뿐만 아니라 장애인들 상호간의 편견이나 부정적 인식을 줄일 수 있도록 지원방안을 마련해야 함을 시사점으로 제시하였다.
The purpose of this study is to examine of social distance of 164 university students with disabilities toward people with disabilities. According to the results, They highly perceived social distance toward people with mental deficit. Also, They perceived physical distance toward people with mental deficit. About the relationships distance between them, They highly perceived social distance toward people with mental deficit. Second, there were statistically significant differences in social distance by related to the variables, sex, types of disabilities, and existence or nonexistence of friend with disabilities. For example, male students with disabilities were highly perceived social distance toward people with disabilities. And university students with severe and multiple disabilities were highly perceived on that than other students with disabilities of friend with disabilities.
