The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the multimedia story book presentation
method on children's language and thinking abilities.
To achieve this purpose, the following research questions were established.
1. Does the multimedia story book presentation influence the children's perceptual function?
2. Does the multimedia story book presentation influence the children's analytic function?
3. Does the multimedia story book presentation influence the children's synthetic function?
4. Does the multimedia story book presentation influence the children's reasoning function?
For this study, 60 five-year old children's were randomly choose from the H kindergarten in
Dalsong-gun, Daegu. The subjects were divided into two groups: a group of 30 pictorial presentation
method, another group of 30 multimedia story book presentation method.
The research period was 6 weeks, and then the children's language and thinking abilities were tested
and evaluated. It was selected and tested by "The evaluation of language and thinking ability of the
child" which was developed by Joo, Young-Hee.
For this study, SPSS WIN 12.0 for data processing was used and the data were analyzed by, M,
SD, ANCOVA and t-test.
The results of this study were as follows. There was significant efficient of the multimedia story
book presentation method on the children's language and thinking ability.
1. There was significant more efficient of the multimedia story book presentation on the children's
perceptual function.
2. There was significant more efficient of the multimedia story book presentation on the children's
analytic function.
3. There was significant more efficient of the multimedia story book presentation on the children's
synthetic function.
4. There was significant more efficient of the multimedia story book presentation on the children's
reasoning function.
