The purpose of this study was to explore the experiences of music therapists’ identity and to suggest appropriate answer for understanding music therapy and the rolel as a music therapist. Five music therapists participated in this study and data were gathered through depth interview. Date were analyzed by using phenomenological research method of Giorgi(2003). The results of the study revealed 8 domains and 16 subdomains. The results showed that through 8 domains : past-musical experience for internal pleasure and esthetic self investigation, choosing music therapy by internal need and altruism, changing attitudes regarding music therapy to therapeutic perspectives, confusion of identity due to confuse the concept of music therapy and difficulty to prove an therapeutic effectiveness, negative effect by demotivation and trial and error, attemption to self-clinical investigation, growth of self identity, and establishing strong identity, music therapist grow their identities as professional music therapists. key words：identity of music therapis, phenomenological research
