본 연구는 읽기(독해)와 수학에 심한 장애를 보이며 충동적으로 오답을 하거나 회피행동을 보이고 부정적 자아개념을 가지고 있는 학습장애아동에게 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료를 적용하여 그 대상아동의 자아개념에 미치는 효과를 알아보는 것이었다. 본 연구의 연구문제는 다음과 같았다. 첫째, 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료 프로그램이 학습장애아동의 자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 둘째, 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료 프로그램이 학습장애아동의 일반자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 셋째, 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료 프로그램이 학습장애아동의 학습자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 넷째, 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료 프로그램이 학습장애아동의 사회자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 다섯째, 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료 프로그램이 학습장애아동의 정서자아개념에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가? 본 연구의 대상아동은 12.2세의 학습장애아동으로, 이 아동의 자아개념에 미치는 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료의 효과를 알아보기 위해 초등학생용 성격진단 검사(송인섭, 1992) 중 자아개념부분을 발췌하여 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료가 대상 학습장애아동의 자아개념을 20점 향상시켰는데, 하위영역별로 보면 일반자아개념이 6점, 학업자아개념이 7점, 사회자아개념이 3점, 정서자아개념이 4점 향상되었다. 전반적으로 자기교수법을 병행한 미술치료가 대상 학습장애아동의 자아개념에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 각 하위영역별 자아개념에도 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.
In this study, the effects of art therapy using self-instruction were examined on the self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities. Research questions were as follows: 1. How does art therapy using self-instruction influence on the self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities? 2. How does art therapy using self-instruction influence on the general self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities? 3. How does art therapy using self-instruction influence on the school work self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities? 4. How does art therapy using self-instruction influence on the social self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities? 5. How does art therapy using self-instruction influence on the emotional self-concepts in a child with learning disabilities? Self-concept Test by S. Song(1992) was employed to examine the treatment effects. The intervention using art therapy using self-instruction increased the scores of the self-concepts. The overall results of this study indicate that the intervention using art therapy using self-instruction yields beneficial effects on the increase in a child with learning disabilities.
