This study is how Art therapy to develop cognitive ability, motor ability and self-help skill s affects a child with brain lesion. The subject was an elementary school male child, first graded cerebral palsy(2nd grade,8years).On birth, he had lost his right audition and had weak left audition.Hecouldn\'t stand up and walk alone,and so he used strollers or walkers to move.This program consists of 112 sessions from Nov.2007 to Dec.2008, and each session was 60minutes twice a week.The results of this study areas follows. Fisrt, Art therapy has affirmatively influenced on cognitive ability, motor ability and self-helpskills for this cerebralpalsiedchild. Byplaying-store and copying-fairy tales approached cognitively he improved calculation, reading, writing and cooperation. Numberous drawings and shapings with various materials could progress both hand sand eye-hand cooperation.Turning for the better cooperations,musclecramps havelessened and self-help skill shave improved such as teethbrushing, facewashing, feeding, toilet training(urine),bathing,wearing socks and wearing clothes. Second, Art therapy took general development with a cerebralpalsied child. And thenit inspiredhigherachievementofhisstudiesaswellasskillsof self-controlling and socialization. Having many-sidedself-help skills,he was increased curiosities and desires forsurrounds and obtained self-esteem and a sense of shametoothers.
