The purpose of this paper is to address that formation of educational network with the Korean-Chinese society is an essential task for the international understanding in an emerging multi-cultural society in Korea.
Korea is regarded to enter into the stage of multi-cultural society.
However, more than 40 percent of the foreign residents in Korea is a special group, called ‘dongpo’or overseas Korean returnees.
Therefore, understanding the ‘dongpo’who come from various countries, seems to be the first step for the international understanding. Among them, Korean-Chinese(Chosonjok) has a special feature. They are migrants across national borders between China and Korea, and have made their own distinct societies with South Koreans in China as well as in Korea. Therefore, to understand Korean-Chinese is not only to understand a feature of multi-cultural society of Korea, but also to promote mutual understanding with China in East Asian level.
This paper is to illustrate various methods to make educational network for better understanding with the Korean-Chinese. From formation of the educational network, both sides understand each other better and promote mutual interests. Also, this method should be a basis of a new policy for the overseas Koreans as well as of the mutual understanding education in Korea.
