The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the group art therapy program using clay on depression and anxiety for the women victims of domestic violence. The participants of this were 4 women who had lived at B group shelter in A city. This program lasted from September, 2010 to November, once a week for 10 sessions at A art therapy institute. Research tool were BDI(Beck Depression Inventory) and STAI(State Trait Anxiety Inventory). Preliminary tests were compared with post tests and preliminary tests were compared with follow-up tests by two dependent samples t-test using SPSSWIN version 12.0 program. The mental state in each sessions through the linear measure was compared. The
conclusion of this study are as follows; First, the results of BDI had the positive changes. Second, the results of STAI had not the positive changes, but there were the differences among individuals. The last, the mental state in each sessions had the positive changes. The group art therapy using clay was effective on the depression reduction for the women victims of domestic violence but, there was not effective on the anxiety reduction. This study has a problem of generalization, so further studies through a variety of method are needed to reduce on depression and anxiety for the women victims of domestic violence.
