"The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of imagery representation reading strategy training on the reading comprehension and reading attitude of the students with mental retardation. In order to accomplish such purpose, the research questions were established as follows. First, how much different effects are made by imagery representation reading strategy training on the reading comprehension? Second, how much different effects are made by imagery representation reading strategy training on the reading attitude? Third, how much positive correlations are found between the reading attitude and reading comprehension of the students with mental retardation? The results of this study are as follows. First, the imagery representation reading strategy training is suitable for teaching students with mental retardation who have difficult in reading. Second, the imagery representation reading strategy training is suitable for increasing positive reading attitude. Third, in other words, the students, being superior in reading comprehension, have more affirmative attitude to reading. As above, the imagery representation reading strategy training program is not only more suitable learning strategy to enhance reading comprehension and reading attitude rather than the general direct instruction, but also reading comprehension and reading attitude are significantly correlative.
