The 21 Century has become a knowledge information based society which now progresses into the globalization of politics, economy, culture, and education. In this era, universities have become more than just traditional educational institutions but places where new knowledges and opportunities are created. As the boundaries between countries have merged and competition between countries are growing rapidly, the universities around the world are trying to enhance their international competitiveness. Korean government also has tried to make efforts to invite foreign teaching staff and international students. Along with the government's efforts, universities are coming up with a lot of international projects.However, despite many active efforts, there remains questions about its effectiveness. The research focuses on analyzing college students' international awareness depending on the individual characteristics and whether they participate in international education programs. As a result, the research shows significant difference in students' grade, the number of foreign language that they can use, and their overseas experience. Also, the students who participated in international education programs have much higher level of international awareness than those who didn't. As a conclusion, based on the research analysis, it emphasize the need to strengthen foreign language education, in colleges or universities. Furthermore, Government should develope international education programs in connection between primary and secondary schools. The research concludes with the suggestions on the specialized international education programs, and international training programs with the efforts of the government and universities to realize the internationalization of education.
