The purpose of this study was to examine a youth tolerance scale in a bid to assess the tolerance of youth. After a pilot survey was conducted with self-administered tolerance questionnaires prepared by this researcher, preliminary items were selected, and then an item analysis was carried out five times to develop a tolerance scale. The subjects in this study were 873 teens, who included 458 high schoolers from the city of S in South Jeolla Province and 415 secondary students from the city of J in South Gyeongsang Province. As a result of making four statistical analyses, 70 items were finally selected, and four factors were selected by making a factor analysis, which were respectively called esteem for others, openness, self-regulation. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was .915, and the split-half reliability coefficients of the four factors ranged from .821 to .929. The scale\'s test-retest reliability coefficient of two-week interval was .928, and those of the three factors were between .855 and .932. In addition, the theoretical implications of the scale and the way of utilizing it were discussed.
