The Fourteenth Amendment of the Bill of Rights, United States Codes states "'human beings are equal before God", and Article 11, Constitution of the Republic of Korea also discuss equality of human beings. However in reality, it is much doubtful whether gender equality has been realized in our society yet. In this paper, I discuss those issues to realize gender equality with the example of elderly care issue. 'Elderly care' is still a public assignment of family in our beautiful traditional heritage. However the care-giving work is still mainly a burden of women. In this situation taking it as granted, it is not easy to raise feminist point of view in connection with elderly care. I purpose to let the women's household labor in the family recognized in terms of value, and identify the nature of oppression against women and gender equality that are inherent in the mechanism of elderly caretaking in the standpoint of the feminist angle as to draw reasonable alternatives for the issues.
