한국판 MMPI-2가 출판되어 사용되고 있으나 MMPI와의 관련성이 아직 명확하지 않은 상태에 있다. 이러한 시점에서 본 연구는 미국에서 이루어진 두 검사와의 관계를 연구한 자료들을 조사하고 개관해봄으로써 둘 간의 관계를 이해하고 앞으로의 연구방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 두 검사 간의 관계를 살펴본 연구들은 주로 원점수와 T점수를 비교하고 코드유형 일치율과 두 검사간의 상관을 분석하였다. 연구결과들을 종합한 결과 두 검사의 원점수는 매우 유사하였으나 T점수는 대부분의 척도에서 MMPI가 MMPI-2보다 유의하게 더 높았고 2 코드타입 일치율은 50%-60% 정도로 나타났다. 그리고 두 검사가 대체로 유사한 프로파일 형태를 보이고 높은 상관을 보이며 비교적 동등한 것으로 간주되었다. 그러나 이런 연구결과들을 한국판 MMPI-2에 그대로 적용하기에는 많은 제한이 있다. 따라서 한국판 MMPI-2의 적절한 활용을 위해 앞으로 두 검사에 대한 연구가 일반인과 여러 임상 집단을 대상으로하여 다양하게 이루어져야 하겠고, MMPI-2의 여러 척도에 대한 타당도 연구들도 많이 이루어져야 할 필요가 있다.
Korean MMPI-2 has been used since its publication but the relation of the MMPI is unclear. This study aims to understand the relation of the two tests and to research further by examining and reviewing the American studies for comparison of the MMPI and MMPI-2. Most studies compared the raw scores and T scores and analysed the concordance rate and correlation coefficient between the two tests. Results showed that comparison of raw scores was very similar. However, MMPI-2 T scores were lower than MMPI T scores and 2-point codetypes concordance rate was 50-60%. Two tests showed similar profile pattern and were highly correlated and equivalent. However, results of two tests in America are not applicable to Korean MMPI-2 because of much limitations. Therefore, the study of the two tests using various samples in Korea and the validity study of the Korean MMPI-2 are needed for the proper usage and application of the Korean MMPI-2.
