This case study is on the communal learning process of parents who took
part in the cooperate child care. Qualitative research was conducted to
understand how learning together is practiced by the parents of
\"Moedoohamggae\", the cooperate child care center, based on the
cultural-historical activity theory as an expansive learning model. Analytic
framework - subjects, reasons, contents, and methods of learning - was applied
and participant observation and interviews were used as research methods for
the study. The results were as follows. At \"Moedoohamggae\", the parents were
not merely child care supporters but transforming into the learning subjects
called \"Ama\". At first the parents participated in the functional purpose as the
\"Ama\". However, they gradually expanded reasons of learning for the
development of theirselves and the formation of community as they constructed
networks with others. Consequently, they learned the value of community itself.
The process was not easy, nevertheless, they solved conflicts with each other
through questioning and answering, caring and waiting, and systematic
mentoring. Therefore, the parental participations in the cooperative child caring
at the \"Moedoohamggae\" was the process of learning together through the
formation of communal identity.
