Museums, which house the history and culture of diverse countries, are meaningful and appropriate spaces for multicultural education programs. This paper shows development procedures of multicultural education programs in the National Museum of Korea and discusses problems and solutions resulting from the evaluation. In 2005, education programs which offer opportunities to experience Korean history and culture for immigrant workers were launched in the National Museum of Korea, followed by those for Koreans' understanding of multiculture from 2008. A case study on education programs for Koreans called ‘role-play’ and ‘back-pack’ using Asian gallery presents the development, implement and evaluation of the education programs leading to the problems and solutions. Based on findings of this research, significant suggestions regarding the future of multicultural education programs are summarized into 3 parts; clarification of the purpose, specialization of curriculum and establishment of the evaluation system about multicultural education programs. In conclusion, the authenticity and effectiveness of multicultural education programs in museums can be amplified through the detailed study and consistent trial considering the nature of museum.
