The purpose of this research is to investigate the significance of cooking activity in lifelong educational meaning for independent living of adults with intellectual disabilities. For this, a qualitative research method was applied in proceeding the cooking activity program to achieve the purpose of this research. For the research, 3 adults with intellectual disabilities aged over 20 were recruited. Data were collected for a total of 8 months from February to September 2018. The data were collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews while the research participants were taking part in the cooking activity program. The participant observation was conducted throughout the 25 sessions of the cooking activity program from Feb to August 2018. The in-depth interviews with the research participants and information providers were carried out 3 times, and they took about 1 to 1.5 hours individually. All contents were recorded and transcribed, and the results of the research are as follows: First, the exploration of the cooking activity experience of the adults with intellectual disabilities for independent living resulted in `hope living inside me ; second, the meaning of the cooking activity experience when it comes to independent living was`one step toward living alone ; and third, the meaning of the cooking activity experience in terms of lifetime education was`endless learning. Based on such results, it has been reconfirmed that it is necessary to perform repeated and continuous education for intellectually disabled adults to live a independent life by providing opportunities that they can do things by themselves where they can realize their potential.
