The purpose of this study investigated the teachers work consciousness and experience in job development and placement process of students with intellectual disabilities in the field of special education. The participants of this study were five special teachers who have experienced vocational development and placement process for students with intellectual disabilities in Gyeonggi Province. The data collection consisted of deep-interview and transcribed the contents. And data analysis consisted through coding, one of qualitative research.
The result of this study was follows as.
First, the experiences of teachers in the course of job development and placement process of students with intellectual disabilities appeared as the status of occupational development and placement personnel, needs of employer, preparation for employment, period of job maintenance, major workplace. Second, the difficulties which faced the teachers appeared as the lack of Education Office support, the difficulties of students with severe disabilities, insufficiency of job development staff, difficulty of teacher work paralleling, limitation of employment guidance.
Conclusion, this study suggested development of various job types, expansion of public service support, change of social perception, reinforcement of teacher professionalism.
