This article aims to investigate the influence of social paradigm to the perspectives of Christian counseling. Modernism, one of main social paradigm, tends to use the language of a certain foundation on which all knowledge can be construct, emphasize an autonomous individual, and accept the universality of the truth. Affected by these modernistic assumptions, some Christian counselors tend to follow scientific standards and emphasize a rational individual who can have knowledge about objective world and universal truth. On the other hand, Postmodernism rejects all assumptions which are accepted by Modernism, such as foundationalism, individualism, and universalism. This perspective also influences the position through which Christian counseling is understood. In this position, an individual is constructed by culture and tradition, and each position which is being integrated is emphasized with same weight.
