Humans cannot exist outside time. Understanding time has been fundamental work in theology and philosophy. This article examines Augustine’s concept of time and its interpretation in counseling. According to Augustine, past–present–future, as the forms of time, are internalized in remembrance–intuition–expectation. Augustine bridged the gap between external time and mind. He established theoretical basis that counselors can understand clients by using time conception. The author includes clinical case to promote validity of this study. Essu(false name) has been suffered from his father’s sudden death, which means the absence of expectation. His depression represents his past oriented tendency. However, in this between era of ‘already’ but ‘not yet’ history, Christians experience the past and future simultaneously. Christians not only experience ‘chronos’ but expect ‘Kairos’, which invloves the eschatological hope. Therefore, the author suggestes that the concept of time and time interpretation can become major therapeutic themes in Christian counseling.
