The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between marital satisfaction and role stress as perceived by the pastor’s wife, and to investigate how spiritual well–being serves as a moderating variable to buffer role stress. A survey was conducted on 194 pastors’ wives, and the results were analyzed through t–test, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. As a result of the study, first, spiritual well–being is a factor for lowering role stress. Second, marital role expectations have the greatest effect on the role stress of the pastor’s wife. Third, spiritual well–being showed a moderating effect of reducing role stress in the relationship between marital satisfaction and role stress. Particularly, there was an effect of lowering ‘role conflict’ among the role stresses through interaction between ‘marital role expectation’ and ‘religious well–being’. The results of this study can be used for the counseling strategies for helping pastor’s wife who is experiencing marital conflict and role stress in church community.
