This study verified the mediating effect of early childhood teachers’ attitudes toward using digital technology in the relationship between their role performance and digital play support competency. Correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, verification of Baron and Kenny's three-step mediating effect, and bootstrapping were conducted on 241 teachers at early childhood education institutions in the United States. Significant positive correlations were confirmed between role performance, attitudes toward digital technology use, and digital play support competency. Role performance had a direct effect on support competency, and the partial mediating effect of attitude was statistically significant. These results suggest that to improve early childhood teachers’ digital play support capabilities, systematic and integrated teacher education and support should seek to form a positive attitude alongside with strengthening the teachers’ role performance.
