This dissertation aims to suggest improvements on problems of using computer and
to provide basic information to activate computer skill of visually impaired teachers
by analyzing the actual state and ability to use computer of the visually impaired
teachers who work for the special school for the blind. The following are the
concrete purposes to accomplish these aims. First, the actual state to use computer
of visually impaired teachers is reserched. Second, the ability to use computer of
visually impaired teachers is reserched. The questionnaire used in this study consists
of 24 items about the actual state and ability to use computer of visually impaired
teachers, and it has reliability of 5 items, which consist of Likertis 5 scale, about the
actual state to use computer and 9 items about the ability to use computer. The
survey was done through the visually impaired teachers who work for the 12 special
schools for the blind, and questionnaires were sent out 120 copies and received 91
copies, which were conducted T-test, ANOVA analysis and Chi-square analysis,
using SPSS Statistics 19 statistics program. The result based on the study is as
follows. First, the results showed that computer holdings and software for the blind
are adequate. Computer’s performance is low, and software for the class and training
for using computer is not enough. Sense-reader is the most common software for
the blind, computer is frequently used for administrative tasks, and teachers use internet to widen their knowledge. Second, teachers have advanced word processing
ability and they are good at installing software and curing a computer virus. The
results also shows that the blind teachers have higher level in utilization of software
for the blind and data management of auxiliary memory than teachers with low vision.
Teachers in 30s, who have 5~10 teaching experience, are the best in utilization of
NEIS(National Education Information System), female teachers are better in
installment and management of hardware than male teachers. The visually impaired
teachers realize necessity of developing software and webpage to increase computer
skills, considering accessability, and they want to learn OA(Office Automation) 3
programs best.
