학습저널은 학습현장에서 사용되는 일종의 학습기법으로 혹은 학습자들의 학습효과를 증진시키기 위한 도구로 활용되어왔다. 본 연구는 대학생들이 수강하는 교과목의 내용 을 반추할 수 있는 능력을 함양하기 위해 서울시의 한 대학교에서 연구자의 과목을 수 강하는 학습 집단을 대상으로 학습저널을 작성하게 하였다. 학습저널은 2003년도 2개 과목의 수업에서 사용되었다. 본 연구는 작성된 학습저널의 내용분석과 연구자의 수업 관찰이 병행되었다. 연구대상자들의 학습저널을 분석한 결과, 대학생들의 학습저널 기 술 유형으로 몇 가지로 드러났고, 학습저널 작성의 효과도 발견되었다. 본 연구에서 대 학생들의 학습저널은 수업내용이나 과정을 단순히 기록하는 수동적 기술유형과 학점을 취득하기 위한 의무적 학습저널, 자신의 반추 능력 증진과 미래에 대한 설계 자료로 능동적으로 활용하는 유형까지 다양하게 드러났다. 또한 학습저널 내용분석 결과 대학 생들은 학습저널을 작성함으로써 다양한 방식으로 학습효과를 증진시키고 있었고, 학 습자들의 비판적 사고능력을 함양시키고 있음을 밝혔다.
Journal writing has been used as one of learning techniques and learning theory. To improve learning effectiveness, writing journal treated a tool of student learning in adult classes. This study investigated the effects of journal writing in the university classes in Seoul. The study also analysed styles of journal writing by university students. The sample of this research were selected from two different classes. The sample students were 2nd and 3rd grades from the same college major. Their age ranged from 20 to 26. The results of the study were shown several different styles of journal writing based on their submitted journals and the researcher\'s observation. The journal writing styles were classified from simple description of class process and critical reflection. The journal was used by the university students for their life plan and career discussion, and development of reflective thinking.
