This study focused on a child with ADHD(Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder) and tried to confirm the effect of Sandtray Therapy on the child. The
therapy was done on a male child who is in the fifth grade of elementary school
and who was diagnosed with ADHD. Sandtray Therapy was used on the child for
12 sessions, 40 minutes per session, from 7 June 2010 until 30 August 2010.
The results of the qualitative analysis showed that a mother-child unity was
formed in the relationship between the child and the therapist during the use of
Sandtray Therapy process and that the child was empowered to face the shadow of
an inadequate psycho-social adaption to his environment. I also observed emotional
and behavioral changes in the child which could lead to self-healing and positive
integration, through the expression of his consciousness and unconsciousness during
Sandtray Therapy. From the result of this case study, I could confirm the
meaningful effect of Sandtray Therapy for a child with ADHD.
