This case study focused on the change of emotional behavior of a child whose
parents are divorced. In this study, I used Sandtray Therapy on an elementary
school student who was emotionally labile and had difficulty expressing their
experience of their parents’ divorce. I applied the pre-test and post-test with the
HTP (House-Tree-Person) Drawing Test and the SCT (Sentence Completion Test)
and confirmed some positive changes with regards to the child’s anxiety,
nervousness and self-denial. I allowed the child to freely express their relationship
with their mother using a sandtray box.
I analyzed the result using Sandtray Therapy. This showed some meaningful
changes towards emotional stability in the child, and a potential acceptance of their
family background. I confirmed that Sandtray Therapy was effective in positively
changing the emotional behavior of the child.
